Welcome to the website of the Anglican Church of Rwanda Byumba Diocese. We are a movement of Christians who happen to be Anglicans, who are passionately committed to Jesus and His Good News of hope, EAR Byumba is one of the 11 Dioceses of Anglican Church of Rwanda. The Diocese of Byumba was created in 1991.
Its first bishop was Bishop Onesphore Rwaje, now Bishop of Gasabo and Archbishop of Rwanda. In January 2011 Emmanuel Ngendehayo was elected and consecrated as the second bishop.
Previously Emmanuel Ngendehayo had served as Diocesan Secretary. Diocese of Byumba is in Gicumbi District in the north of Rwanda (65km north of Kigali, the capital), close to the Ugandan border. The Diocese exercises its activities in 3 Districts of Northern Province: Gicumbi District of 21 sectors; Rulindo District of 6 sectors and Burera District of 4 sectors. The Diocese also implements its activities in 2 Districts of Eastern Province: Nyagatare District of 4 sectors and Gatsibo District of 7 sectors)
